很 + adjective (describing things) — Chinese grammar (HSK 1)
Subject + 很 + Adjective
Chinese adjectives work like verbs, so you do not need 是 before them. Instead a plain statement uses 很 (hěn) between the subject and the adjective. In this position 很 barely means "very"; it simply makes the sentence sound complete and neutral.
Examples
| 我很高兴。 Wǒ hěn gāoxìng. | I am happy. | |
| 今天天气很好。 Jīntiān tiānqì hěn hǎo. | The weather is nice today. | |
| 她很漂亮。 Tā hěn piàoliang. | She is pretty. |
